The game "Metro 2033", the events of which unfold in the destroyed subway of post-apocalyptic Moscow, is a depressing story of the hardest surviving, where the fate of mankind is in your hands.
In 2013, the world was destroyed by a global catastrophe that destroyed the world´s population and turned its surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors found refuge in the depths of the Moscow metro, and human civilization once again plunged into the Dark Ages.
Now the courtyard is 2033rd year. An entire generation of people was born and grew underground, watching their besieged Metropolitan Cities fight for survival with each other and with the nightmarish mutants that are expected from the outside.
You are Artem, an ordinary Muscovite, born before the world apocalypse, but grew up underground. Never before had he left the limits of his own already-established Metro station, but fate decided in its own way. Now he is forced to fulfill the mission of his life: to get into the center of the Moscow Metro and warn the remnants of human society about the imminent danger, or die in transit and doom the survivors to certain death.
