Institute of Homeopathy and naturopathy Federal Scientific clinical-experimental center of traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment Medical University (Moscow)
This work continues the series of publications on some members of the genus Allium, used in herbal medicine and homeopathy, - Allium cepa L. (onion) and Allium sativum L. (garlic planting). The first publication was devoted to the use of these plants in folk and traditional medicine in Russia and other countries of the world [13]. The second publication contains experimental and literary data on the chemical composition of onion and garlic. [25]
The purpose of this study is to analyze and summarize data on the pharmacological activity and the peculiarities of action of biologically active substances (BAS), raw onions and garlic, as well as products from them.
Very interesting is, in our view, a comparison of the spectrum of "clinical" use of the objects of study in folk and traditional medicine with the indications for use officinal phytopharmaceuticals derived from onions and garlic, registered in Russia (especially in view of the degree of knowledge of the biological activity of the entire spectrum BAS detected in raw materials and manufacturing plants).
