The Lost Vikings (Russian Lost Vikings) is a video game in the platform puzzle genre, developed by Silicon & Synapse, Inc. and released by Interplay in 1992.
Each level of the game is a closed location with riddles, monsters, bonuses and inventory on it, which can be used by the player to pass the zone. The objective of the player is to bring all three Vikings alive to the plate (door or portal) with the inscription "Exit". If at least one of the characters on the way to the exit kills, the level will have to pass from the very beginning. Developers from Silicon & Synapse have applied the code scheme - each level is assigned a unique 4-digit password, which is communicated to the player at the beginning of the level. Thus, the password permitting to the next level becomes known only after passing the current one.
The Lost Vikings would be an ordinary platformer, if not for one "but". Instead of one protagonist hero who can jump, run, shoot, collect items, press buttons and do much more, the developers have introduced into the game three characters, each of which has its own unique abilities. Eric in full accordance with his name knows how to run and jump, and also, after being accelerated, to pierce the head of the wall. Olaf with his shield blocks the enemy´s attacks, and also uses it as a parachute when falling from a height or as a step, which Eric can stand up to reach higher platforms. Baleog destroys enemies using a bow and sword, and he can also, by shooting from the bow, switch remote levers and press buttons that are out of reach for other characters.
